The Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is offering postdoctoral research positions in the area of radio astronomy instrumentation and analysis. We seek highly qualified candidates to work on the Hydrogen Intensity and Real-time Analysis eXperiment (HIRAX), a radio telescope array that is being led by UKZN, which has key science goals of 21cm cosmology, transients, pulsars, and hydrogen absorbers.
Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer
The School is the largest single school of its kind in South Africa. In Mathematical Sciences the School offers a vibrant educational and research environment covering a variety of fields, including Astrophysics and Cosmology. The School has many well-established national and international collaborative research linkages.
Postdoctoral Fellowship Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC)
The Astrophysics Research Centre pursues both a theoretical and experimental approach to studies of the gravitational field. A post doctoral fellow is sought to support the
theoretical and mathematical areas of the Centre. The Centre staff pursue advanced
studies on extended field theories such as Lovelock gravity, Einstein-Gauss-Bonet gravity, f(R,
T) theory, Rastall theory and other modified theories.
Astrophysics PhD Candidate Selected for Prestigious International PhD Programme
PhD candidate at UKZN’s Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC) Mr Brandon Bisschoff is one of 10 doctoral candidates from across the African continent selected to participate in the “100 PhDs for Africa” programme through the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
